Amprius Puts Silicon to Work

September 13, 2022 – Ronnie Tao, vice-president business development for Fremont, California-based Amprius Technologies, is enthusiastic about his company nearly doubling the energy density of lithium-ion batteries. “Our batteries, our energy cell, is 450-watt hours per kilogram, which is almost double the energy density that’s available in all of the solutions that are out there today,” he continued. “This is actually done via our silicon nanowire platform. And that’s really special.”

Cracking the Code for eVTOL Batteries

California-based Amprius is targeting its cutting-edge batteries for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. For years, the battery industry talked about reaching a higher gravimetric energy density—a so-called “magic number” of 450 watt hours per kilogram, which some experts said would break the sector wide open and spur the emerging eVTOL industry forward.

A New Silicone Battery That Beats Tesla Two to One in Energy Density Hits the Market

July 16, 2022 – Li-Ion batteries are the most important part of electric vehicles and their characteristics literally make or break an EV. One of the most important characteristics is its energy density, or how much energy can be packed within. Although Tesla was considered the king of battery tech, a new startup started commercial deliveries for a new battery type that is twice as energy-dense as Tesla batteries.

Amprius Technologies and Teledyne Flir Enter into Three-Year Component Purchase Agreement

July 15, 2022 – Amprius Technologies, Inc., (“Amprius”), the leader in lithium-ion batteries with its Si Nanowire Anode Platform, announced that it has entered into a Component Purchase Agreement with Teledyne FLIR, a global leader in intelligent sensing, unmanned aerial systems (“UAS”), and integrated solutions for defense and industrial markets.

Amprius Ships First 450 Wh/kg, 1150 Wh/l Battery Cells

February 11, 2022 — Amprius Technologies announced the shipment of the first commercially available 450 Wh/kg, 1150 Wh/L lithium-ion battery cells. They will be used in a new generation of High-Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS). According to the company, those are the first commercially available battery cells with such a high energy density.
